Being able to define a 'expiry date' for historical data allows the user to strike their own balance between the two factors. To delete items in bulk from your search history, tap the blue Delete icon and select from the available options: Delete today, Delete custom. On the one hand, I care about privacy out of principle, but on the other, I care about usability - I find it hard work to use a browser that never stores any history, due to constant re-typing of passwords into frequently-used websites. Tap the X next to each query or day to delete it. I have not found a tool that will clear them all simultaneously. You have to remove this 'recent' list manually, one by one. I realise that my question straddles somewhere between 'usability' and 'privacy'. If your address bar is at the bottom, swipe up on the address bar. The free program BleachBit can clear Chromes cookies, cache, history, passwords, and other browsing data.
